Bookbinding Workshop
Bring to class the first day:
Liquid Starch--Found in the laundry detergent isle at your local grocery store
Powdered Alum--Found down the spices isle at your local grocery store
Disposable tin casserole dish (9x13 or bigger is best)
Paper (9x13, or slightly smaller than your casserole dish)
Toll-painting acrylic paint (needs to be viscous, Michael's is the best place to get it)
Scrapers, combs, sponges or anything you might like to bring to create texture on your papers
We will be discussing the additional tools needed on the first day of class.
Watercolor,
Beg/Interm.
Brushes–Rounds are great,
they're most versatile. Get a variety ranging from an 8 to 16. A large
flat wouldn't hurt either
Watercolor Paper–Based on personal preference, I like Arches 180lb
cold press. If you want to experiment with weights and tooth go right
ahead. I wouldn't try anything that is lighter than 180lb weight.
Spray bottle
Paper towels
Large container for water
Paints–try to steer clear from anything that has "hue"
on the end. They're not that great. Below is a list of suggested pigments...
Cadmium Yellow light
Cadmium Orange/yellow dark
Cadmium Red
Alizarin Crimson
Cobalt Blue
Cerulian Blue
Indigo Blue
Pthalo Blue
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Raw Sienna
Burnt Sienna
Hooker's Green
Chromium Oxide Green
Payne's Grey
Permanent Violet
